Gunmaker/Gunsmith/Stockmaker Summary
Repairs and modifies firearms by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned.)
- Assist in the building of custom rifles, pistols and shotguns.
- Operates machines including lathe and milling machine and gun stock duplicating machine etc.
- Install and fit various new and/or spare parts in addition to metallic or optical sights, pistol grips, recoil pads, leather pads and decorative pieces to firearms.
- Troubleshoot and repair common problems.
- Disassemble, clean, lube and reassemble different models of firearms.
- Refinish wooden stocks for rifles and shotguns by hand sanding and applying hand rubbed oil or competition spray finishes.
- Test fire firearms to determine proper functioning of repairs, regulation and/or restoration.
- Document work done by writing concise description of repairs.
- Perform daily maintenance and cleaning for work area, equipment, and tools.
- Mandatory over-time, at the discretion of the company, is part of the job requirements.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Must have bench experience in a general gunsmithing/gunmaking repair shop.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must speak fluent English.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Basic math knowledge.
REASONING ABILITY: Good troubleshooting skills are an essential part of the job.
